2. Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)

John Rambo is released from prison by his former superior, Colonel Samuel Troutman, so that he can complete a top-secret operation to bring back POW's still held in Vietnam.

This is where most fans got on board with the franchise. The series takes a shift, embracing more action, bigger body counts and that iconic look of Rambo carrying the machine gun.

First Blood Part 2 is over the top but it is still a very solid action film.

A little trivia: James Cameron co wrote the screenplay.
