Since reading The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star which deals with the recording and touring behind the band's fourth studio album Girls, Girls, Girls, I decided to go back and revisit the record.

The album was released on May 15, 1987 and was produced by Tom Werman (Cheap Trick, Poison, Twisted Sister, Ted Nugent). The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts and went quadruple platinum.

In all honesty, Girls, Girls, Girls still sounds pretty good after all these years. I really thought the Girls album really captured a sleazy and gritty street wise sound which was very indicative of the bands’ persona.

Besides, I’m still in awe that this album got made at all after reading that book. Better yet I am surprised that songs like the album opener Wild Side , the title track , Sumthin' Nuthin' and You’re All I Need still sound vibrant and have not fallen victim to the cold digital recording process that has become synonymous of most of the 80’s rock albums.

I still really like the Girls, Girls, Girls album. I thought that the raw and sleazy sound of the record was refreshing compared to most of the hard rock releases of that time. Although I could only imagine how amazing the album could have been if Sixx was in control of his substance abuse.
