Introduction
As I mentioned in my previous post, we were spoiled in 2017. So many games and unfortunately so little time. I wanted to go through a few games that I would love to play in 2018. This is of course assuming that games will not be delayed as they usually are.
Sea of Thieves (XBOX One)
Release Date: March 20, 2018
This game has been in demo at various gaming conferences for a while and this is the year that it should be releasing. This game is essentially an open world where you play cartoonish pirates. You have a crew and missions will have to be completed. This also seems to be a game where friends will be able to participate and help you get treasure.
I personally find that this game looks great and it could be a lot of fun. Everyone that I heard that have played it at shows, have fallen in love with it. So I hope that it is not just hype and that the game is good.

A Way Out (Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Release Date: March 23, 2018
This game was first featured at E3 2017 and it looked original. The art style looks cool and the gameplay seems odd at first. This is a CO-OP only game. You will be able to play with someone in the room (old school style) or online with friends. The part that is original is that the screen will be split in 2 for most of it and the game is in real time. So while your partner is doing something (cutscene for example), you will be doing something in real time still playing the game. At least that is what the sample trailer gave us at E3. This could be confusing at first glance but I am curious to see how this game plays out. Could be a sleeper hit if it hits the right nerve with players.

Far Cry 5 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Release Date: March 27, 2018
March seems like it will be a hell of a month for games. Seems like it will be another November 2017. Far Cry 5 will be taking place in America. Initially after its initial trailer some people were complaining that this game is hitting too close to home. However for me, I just saw the potential visuals and gameplay and I wanted to play it. Far Cry Primal was hit or miss with players. I believe that with the marketing behind this game, Ubisoft is banking on this being a success. Let us hope that the previews are not the best part of the game and that missions are fun.

God of War (Playstation 4)
Release Date: Early 2018
This game needs no introduction. This has been a Playstation staple for quite sometime and this is the new instalment in the series. Apparently the pre-orders for this game are slow but I think people are just waiting to see how this game will be. It will be a hot seller even if it is an average game. I always loved the story and the gameplay and I do not expect this to change with this iteration.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
Release Date: Spring 2018
This is a very long awaited sequel to the original game. It has been pushed back from its 2017 release date. This normally does not fare very well with games but in this case I think it can only benefit. This time around there will be a single player mode and a multiplayer mode. I am a single player kind of guy so the multiplayer is not something that really interests me. I wonder if the multiplayer will be good. Time will tell but I am sure that it will be a fun game to play.

Metro Exodus (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Release Date: Fall 2018
I really liked the trailer at E3 and I believe that I will pick this one up when it is available. This is the sequel to the popular Metro Last Light. I really liked the first game Metro 2033 but did not have time to play the second one. However I am really looking forward to this. It is one of the few games that I think that I will enjoy more on PC than console but still I think this will be a great adventure. The preview looked really good.

Anthem (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Release Date: Fall 2018
This was all the talk at this year's E3. Everyone was stunned at the visuals. Especially that it was demoed on an XBOX One X in 4K. I must admit that it looked very good. Some are calling this the Destiny killer. I for one am not a big fan of Destiny as I am not a multiplayer guy. I just do not see the appeal of it. So this will probably not be for me but I know that many players will want to sink their teeth on this one and I hope that it does not suffer from the same issues as Destiny. Especially the fact that Ubisoft does not have the best track record when releasing massive multiplayer games.

Darksiders 3 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Release Date: TDB 2018
I love the Darksiders series. Yes it is not everyone's cup of tea but I love the adventure part of it. I always considered it, God of War meets Zelda. The first 2 games have been free on XBOX Live Gold, but you can purchase the first 2 games for about 30$. For me that is a great deal for the amount of gameplay that you get out of it.
The the third instalment you play as Fury. From what I have read, this character will be less brute force and more magic oriented. To me that sounds great. Changes up the gameplay a little, so it has the potential to be a really good game. Hopefully it can be a good end to a great series.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, PC)
Release Date: TBD 2018
I really hope that this game gets released this year. This game is made from the same creators as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Aria of Sorrow. Gamestar describes the game as the following:
Koji Igarashi's first major post-Konami project is Castlevania in all but name, with the same smooth action, gothic atmosphere, and haunted locale spelunking we loved for so long.
I can see this game being amazing on the Switch to play on the road or on a commute to work. I really hope that it gets released this year.

Spider-Man (Playstation 4)
Release Date: TBD 2018
This looks like the Spider-Man game that every player have wanted for years. It looks spectacular. it is a shame that, as of now, it will only be available through PS4. I think that this will be a very big seller on the system. May be it will come to the XBOX One X at some point.

Metroid Prime 4 (Switch)
Release Date: TBD
I am mentioning this game as there was a lot of buzz when the trailer, which showed nothing, was announced. I am not sure that it will be released in 2018 but we should be able to see gameplay, at least by E3. Although I am sure that Nintendo will have its own event prior to E3. If this gets announced this year, it would be big for Nintendo. Players have waited a very long time for a new Metroid game. I give them credit for releasing a steady stream of first party games while getting 3rd party support. No matter how you say it Metroid will be epic. So far with the Switch they have hit home runs with Mario and Zelda. This should be no different.

Conclusion
2018 looks to be another stellar year for games. I did not list them all as I would be here writing for 2 months, but these are the games that have caught my eye. I do not own a PS4 or a Switch but some games releasing for those systems look great.
