If there was anyone who gave Stallone competition for top spot of the action hero mantle, it was Arnie. There are three reasons why the Austrian Oak makes our list of greatest action heroes.

First, his sheer determination to transition from the world’s greatest bodybuilder to becoming one of the biggest (no pun intended) stars in movie history. There was no way that a man of his massive size, with an unpronounceable surname and a thick Austrian accent, was going to become one Hollywood’s biggest box office draws, but he proved all the naysayers wrong. Second, unlike some of his contemporaries, no Arnold character was the same. He’s created a varied list of loved characters who fought on Earth, in space, in the future and in the world of fantasy and magic. There’s nothing in the action genre that he hasn’t done. Third, Schwarzenegger had some of the most memorable lines in movie history: "Hasta la vista, baby" - Terminator 2, "I'll Be Back" - The Terminator & “Remember Sully when I promised to kill you last? I lied.”- Commando.
