Introduction
When I was a teen, I loved this game. However, I remember it being a hard game at the time. We could not reply on the internet to get us through the tough spots. That was the fun of playing PC games back in the day!!
How does this game hold up after all of these years? Let us find out.
Story
You play a policeman by the name of Sonny Bonds. You are a street cop and you see Sonny grow in the police field. You eventually become a homicide detective and solve the big case of the Death Angel. It is a drug dealer who is putting drugs on the streets and also is involved in a few murders.
There is not much more to the story itself. It is the game play that makes this game very memorable.
Gameplay
The gameplay is a text based action game. So you type in words on the screen and the character will do those actions. Obviously the system is looking for keywords and finding the correct terms could be challenges.
For every successful action that you perform, you get points. There are 225 points that you can get in all. The key for this game and the reputation that it has made for itself, is that you need to abide by police procedures. If you do not perform these actions in the proper order, you will die. An example of this, is when you leave the station for the first time, you need to check your car. Failure to do this will result in the game finishing.
As I mentioned before, the cool thing is like seeing the evolution of a cop. Although due to the strict protocol that you need to follow, the game was not too easy to play. I remember being stuck at certain parts for hours just because I could not figure out what was needed to be done. Back in the day, there was no internet to provide insight on where you are going wrong. For a few dollars, you were able to purchase a help guide. An example can be found below:

I really needed the hints. Although the game could be frustrating initially, it is still fun to play. I think that is why so many players are still playing this game today. I see this game streamed from time to time on Twitch. Here is a little bit of what you can expect playing this game.

I have just played this game again and I think it holds up. There have been mods made to upgrade the graphics but I really like the old school 8 bit look. The game is not as tough as it once was thanks to the internet. But it is still enjoyable to play through the various scenarios.
This is one of my favorite games in the series. I really liked 2 and Open Season. However after that, the games became way too complicated that it removed the fun from them.
The game is still good after all these years and I would recommend any player to play this one at least once .
