Introduction
Today we learned about the next console from the gaming giant Nintendo. They released a trailer that can be seen below.

Initial Reaction
So is this what people were looking for? Will this bring back Nintendo in the console race? I see 3 types of people that expressed their opinions about this reveal.
1) Super Positive: This is mostly form the traditional Nintendo diehard fans. They would buy anything Nintendo anyways. So there is nothing much more to say here.
2) MIddle of the Pack: This is where I would fit in. I would love for Nintendo to come up with something revolutionary. This console has the potential. However, players have been disappointed with the Wii and Wii U and do not want to be burned again. We are waiting before we will make a final judgement.
3) Super Negative: These guys seem to not want for Nintendo to succeed and are deeming this a failure already.
What Do We Know
This console will be a hybrid console. This was already leaked a few days ago and the leaks were right. Essentially, this is what the Wii U should have been. You will be able to take your console game and bring it with you everywhere. At least, this is what the trailer seems to indicate. I do not know if I will go to the park and play with it but I could picture this in a more practical sense, like when I have to go to the crapper. This could have the potential of killing the 3DS. Time will tell.
The console will be released in March of 2017. I think this could be a mistake. They should have released this for the holiday season. I assume that the reason that it is not going out for the holidays is due to the timing and that it is too short notice.
There does seem to have some third party support. Ubisoft had already mentioned this months ago. They did say the exact same thing during the Wii U announcement but this time it seems to be true. They listed Activision, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, Sega, Square Enix, Take Two Interactive, Ubisoft andWarner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, as well as 505 Games, Arc System Works, Atlus, Bethesda Softworks, Codemasters, From Software, Frozenbyte, Koei Tecmo, Level-5, PlatinumGames, Spike Chunsoft, Telltale Games, and THQ Nordic.
I do think that they mean business because the trailer seems to be geared to the adult gamer. In the video, the first person that you see is an adult and not a kid. So I think they are aiming for the adult gamer and not just the kids. I think that this is a good move.
Controls
So the way that it works is the console will hook up to your TV. The controller will split and you will be able to pick up the monitor in the middle of the switch console. This is where, I think, Nintendo is keeping ahead of the game. This could be a combo of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS to make one machine.
Bottomline
I really want to see this console succeed. I am a Nintendo fanboy. I was a big fan of the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) and Nintendo 64. I even liked the Gamecube. I was not a fan of the Wii or Wii U and not because of the hardware. I was not a fan because the consoles lacked, one big thing, the games. I get it, people like their Mario Bros, Metroids and Zelda's, but that is it. Where they are innovative with the hardware, they lack with creativity on the software level.
Also, for me my XBOX One is also an entertainment system. So I am not sure how it will handle apps and so on. I really hope that it will have a few apps like Netflix and able to rent movies.
So for me personally, if the games are there, people will come and I may actually buy this console. So for now, it seems promising but I am skeptical. Only time will tell!!
